USMARC Concise Authority: Other Variable Fields (8XX)
At present, only one field (field 880, Alternate Graphic Representation) is defined in the 8XX group in the USMARC Authority format.
880 - ALTERNATE GRAPHIC REPRESENTATION (R)
The fully content-designated, nonroman representation of another field in the same record. Field 880 and the associated roman field both contain a subfield $6 (Linkage). The first and second indicator positions in field 880 have the same definition and values as the indicators in the associated field. The subfield codes in field 880 are the same as those defined in the associated field except for subfield $6.

Subfield Codes
- $6 - Linkage (NR)
Data that link fields that are alternate graphic representations of each other: the linking tag number of the associated field; a two-character occurrence number (right justified with a zero in the unused position); the identification of alternate graphic character set (the Intermediate and Final characters of the escape sequence) used in the field; and, when the orientation for display of the field is right-to-left, the field orientation code (r). Subfield $6 is the first subfield in the field and is structured as follows: [linking tag]-[occurrence number]/[identification of alternate graphic character set]/[field orientation code]. - $a-z - Same as associated field
